Pram Fit

Babes on the Run was established across Perth in 2007 to provide programs that not only promoted women’s fitness but also taught clients how to eat, train and take charge of their own health.

Babes on the Run Personal Training recognises the benefits of specialised training programs that address not only the physiological differences between the sexes but also the barriers to women training.

“I noticed when I was pregnant, a lot fitness services here in Perth no longer catered to me or had the expertise to effectively train me. And after the birth of my son, this was only highlighted.” Says Justine Guest, founder and Trainer at Babes on the Run. “Speaking with my clients, my mothers group and friends it became increasingly apparent that there was definitely a need for programs whereby women could readily interact, get safe and correct information about their health and learn to take charge of their fitness themselves under the guidance of a female trainer”.

Guest’s experience and background is in women’s training so she set about putting together packages for women only.

“Women have a range of issues to overcome before they even get out of the house and get down to a session” says Guest. “We provide programs to overcome as many of the key barriers as we can”.

  1. Education – most women have never been taught how to exercise properly, how to run and move and what level to work out at.
  2. Emotional – Women put themselves after everything on the ’to-do list’.
  3. Failure- many programs and clubs are set up to make money not get clients results.
  4. Self-conscious – Women want a chance to train with other women, socialise and have fun – not just to compete and be given tasks that highlight their weaknesses.

“All our programs address these issues and more” says Guest. All clients have access to to a Personal Trainer via email 24 hours a day and are coached to becoming the best possible athlete they can. Discussion in class is promoted, clients and trainers talk about training and diet issues to overcome any sticking points together. “Women are just wonderful – they’ll do anything to help each other out”.

Babes on the Run is run by women and all their trainers are women too. “I have found consistently that female trainers start in this industry to be able to connect with others and make a difference. We are so proud of the fact that our trainers get to do this with our clients on a daily basis”. says Guest.

“I strongly believe women want to train hard and well. They want to succeed. And they want to feel happy about themselves.” say Guest. “That’s why the small group programs work! Clients have strong support from their trainer AND other women in the group. None of the sessions make the clients compete with each other. Instead we do track each person’s progress individually” Guest says. “The most important thing we can give someone is the evidence they are improving – we work with them to take charge and turn their lives around”. Clients are encouraged to meet up between sessions as a way to connect to other women in their local areas who are aiming to do the same things.

“So many times I speak with a client who has failed in the past because they couldn’t do it on their own – and that’s so true. It has to be the hardest way. So we want them to meet other women in their area and have that support to get to their goals!”

None of the sessions are a walk in the park – clients all participate in high intensity interval training, athletics, strength and resistance training plus drills. Every client participates in 4 weekly fitness testing with all results recorded. But it all has a purpose – to get clients to understand what they can actually do and how much is possible. It means that between sessions, clients can continue to achieve results by catching up with one another and doing moderate exercise.

Babes on the Run has taken women’s fitness to the next level. “Our motto is ’Get together, Get Out and Get Gorgeous” says Guest. “We have fun, every session is different and we are consistently getting our clients results.”
